Back by Popular Demand | The Surfing Man's Powder Ski
Way back in the day, bigger meant better. Skis with gluttonous waists were a dime a dozen, and everything was soft and floppy — stellar for those perfect days when you’re the only one on the mountain. The downside? Once it got tracked out, things got scary, real scary, fast. That’s where the Ghost Train comes in: early taper, flat camber underfoot, and more splay than you’ve seen since the early oughts — all for the silly fun slash-ability we all crave, along with some actual composure and confidence when conditions inevitably get chewed up and spit back out. The secret is a bastardized take on Triple Camber that we’ve kept closely guarded under lock and key, making the Ghost Train what most of us consider the yardstick against which all powder skis are measured, and in our personal quivers? It’s one of those “cold dead hands” skis. Throw some Trains under your feet and make everyone else in the lift line jealous.

- This is a general guideline and is only a basic suggestion of the proper size. Where you ski, how you ski, and what skis you've ridden in the past should be taken into consideration.
- The Ghost Train is a stiff, fully rockered powder ski. This means it will maneuver easily while maintaining stability at speeds, don't be afraid to size up.
- If you are still on the fence and ski confidently and aggressively size up. If you ski more conservatively or timidly size down.
- Beginner assumes a basic understanding of and ability to ski. For those who have never skied or cannot ski down runs without falling we recommend renting/demoing to start.

Pacific Northwest based, finally got to take these things out today after a foot of snow dumped and oh my God they’re so fun! I thought this might be too much ski for me being my second year skiing, but dang these things are easy to turn and float!

I originally bought these because I thought it would be fun to have a wide rockered powder ski when I do Heli or cat skiing trips in BC. Tahoe received multiple feet of snow, and I was feeling anxious to try them out and see how they perform. I was worried they would be a one to two run ski and would have to switch skis once the resort was skied out. This ski exceeded all expectations and is hands down the most fun powder ski I have ever been on! They handled chopped up snow so well and grip firm snow way better than I thought they would! They are not overly stiff but have a solid back bone to support driving the ski and stomping landings. I am 6'1 and I opted for the 194 and I am so glad I decided to size up! They do not feel long AT ALL and turn on a dime for being such a long ski. If you are on the fence of getting a pair or not, just do it. You will not regret it!

Yolo’d these back on Halloween thinking I’d get maybe a morning or three in Tahoe on them each year, and have them if I ever pull the trigger on Japow, AK believe trip(s). Put them in the bag for a trip to JH two weeks ago when the forecast started looking good. So glad I did, as we absolutely scored with 6-12”+ every day for 5 days straight. GT got a JH baptism by fire. Incredible float, really playful, but with some backbone, so really easy to land on (some sort of magic centering going on with the triple camber?..) Surprisingly usable in bounds, albeit pretty spicy on firm groomers, and a handful in firm bumps. But really, really fun to ski in anything soft. Absolutely came alive in the steep and deep- like a video game. CT110, GT186, __?__…

So I've had quite a few thigh deep days on the 194 Ghost Train and a couple of days in waist deep snow. These skis absolutey rail. I want to express that as a bigger guy (5'10", 220 lbs), I was not jiving with the suggest mount which is -5cm from true center. At suggested, I couldn't put the forward pressure towards the tips that suits my racing style. I couldn't really let the skis rip with confidence. So I remounted on -2cm from suggested (-7cm from true center) and the Ghost Train magically transformed into an entirely different beast, one that had me giggling like a schoolgirl every turn. With the new mount point, I could treat the Ghost Trains like a race ski and it helped to bring more life out of them. 100% confidence blasting through chopped up post-pow conditions and chopped-up with not a single afterthought of "Shoot .. am I going to fast?" Nah .. you just let her rip and keep searching for a speed limit. In moguls and tight technical terrain, the Ghost Train pivots on a dime. Not once does it feel like you have 194cm of material length under your foot. Just pure pivoty goodness and with control. The stiffness underfoot on the ski truly helps to inspire more input from you. And I feel these skis take whatever you want to give it. Again, I have to stress that this is all with mounting at -2cm from suggested. On firm and for a ski with such a short effective edge, the Ghost Train absolutely holds its own. Is there a speed limit on hardpack? Sure, but it's pretty damn high. This all leads me to say if there was every a discussion about a 1-ski quivver with a waist 120mm and up, the Ghost Train has to be leading the charge. I can totally see myself taking these out anytime there's fresh snow overnight, even if it's just a couple of inches.Compared to the Wildcat which is essentially the Bibby Pro from years' past, the 194 Ghost Train is much much better in tight terrain and bumps. Feels like they truly excel in post pow just slicing through the chopped up powder with ease. And because of the short effective edge and flat camber underfoot, you can turn/pivot on a dime when you need to scrub speed quickly or make some quick decisions in variable terrain.Currently the ski is sold out, but be on the lookout for when and if they pop up again for sale.

Wow!!!! Finally got them in the snow, high expectations were exceeded. My previous favorite powder/soft snow ski was OG Comikazes which truly rocked my world in anything from powder to breakable crust.The Ghost Trains made me forget about that revelation in fun shaped skis. They truly blew my mind in one outing.6 inches fresh on 6 inches of heavier snow with a barely supportable layer under it…. What was decent snow to ski was turned into epic like conditions by the Ghost Trains. Open aspens to tight and back again left me laughing in ecstasy…. Wide open fast turns to quick tight maneuvers back to letting them run and carving deeper turns, breaking through the supporting layer and the only thing that changed was the ghost tracks left behind. That deeper carve into the next layer would’ve left me at least feeling uneasy on other skis but with the GT’s it was barely noticeable and in fact it made me laugh louder. Due to avy conditions we kept our angles under 30 degrees but the fun level exceeded ‘40 degrees’. So floaty and fun even on the low angle runout at the bottom of the line!!!Wow, wow, wow!!!!!My main resort / bc moment set up is Death Wish with Shift bindings and yes that ski still blows my mind but now when it comes to touring for all ‘3D’ snow I will be on the crazy ghost train. Put the Voyager binding on them as well and I swear that the entire setup is lighter than the DW / Shift setup.I’m not a weight conscience person when it comes to my touring setups, I seek out downhill performance in my primary touring gear. Ghost trains and voyagers give me a bit of both for a ski that has such ghostly big dimensions.The Voyager is absolutely the easiest pin binding to click into I’ve ever experienced. Two stage heel lifts so simple to use and actual ski performance felt like any non AT binding I’ve skied. It made me more aware of the different cant/angle previous pin bindings I’ve skied had. Always felt strange to me but I couldn’t put my finger on as to why….What a setup!!!!!!!Thanks Moment for giving me yet another ‘ revelationary’ experience on skis. From the comikaze to the death wish and now the ghost trains…. First time on each of the skis blew my mind!!!!!!I should note that my wife absolutely had a similar experience on her new powder set up, Bella’s with Voyagers. (Loves her Sierra / Shift setup but I know what she will grabbing now for powder tours and big powder resort days)Keep up the great work Moment !!!! You all rock!!!!!!

Haven’t skied these yet but sure are nice looking. Feels like a wider version of the DW but look forward to seeing how they ski. Lot of jealous ski techs at the shop. Mounted my 194s on Freerides (tele), 6’2” 170lbs

Most fun on skis ever! Alyeska was hit last night with 15” of dry fluff for once. These blast through chop, pow, and rip on groomers! The one ski quiver - seriously. Love my DWs but now they’re my number 2. The Commander 92s are the third ski in my collection for corduroy. You can’t go wrong with any Moment Skis 🥰⛷️

An absolute party of a ski in the right conditions. 23/24 winter was a weird one in Canada, and I only had a handful of days out on this one. Every lap left me smiling ear to ear wondering how a ski this fun is allowed to exist. For best results use in blower pow or hot spring days. Only time I had a scare was when snow turned to rain on the lower mountain and I had a bit of shinoleum (snow textured like your gramma's kitchen floor). Insane ski, toques off to Moment for constantly finding ways to make magic.

Once in a while you come across something that just shouldn’t make sense. Yet does. That’s the ghost train. Longer and wider than almost anything you’ve ridden. You look at it and it stares right back. Ready to grab you in a moments notice to take you on one last wild ride down the tracks filled with the ghosts of past. Composed and strong on anything you throw at it. Something so wide and scary shouldn’t pivot on a dime on near any surface, yet it will at ease to bring you back down to earth safely when you find yourself spiraling out of control on a runway train. While it’s very happy at home in the back woods in neck deep powder giving you float you imagined was only saved for the gods, you’ll soon realize these train tracks are just as quick to take you for a joyride all over the mountain. The magical mixture of triple camber allows these ghosts to build tracks near almost anywhere on the mountain and near almost any kind of surface or condition. You won’t find these ghosts afraid of any variable paths you may come across on the journey. They’ll lay tracks for days on end just to please the watching eyes. Though they’re long you’ll always have eyes behind you watching your back. Quick to be nimble through tight spaces assures nothing and no one will be catching your tails. Chutes nor trees can stop these ghosts from building their wide eyed tracks. When you find yourself suddenly needing grip you’ll see these ghosts are quick to lend a cold dead hand and grab any surface with ease by using their bastardized potion of triple camber. You’d be forgiven for thinking you’re riding a smaller train but these ghosts are very proud of how they perform for being so large. These ghosts are very special and don’t come around often. They usually are found in very small groups and not many have been chosen to take the wild ride down the magnificent tracks. There are currently 99 souls taking the ghostly plunge but there’s room for 100! Will you join these ghost for one last trip down the tracks?

I may be 2 months out before I can render a proper review because there is no snow as of yet. However they are a pretty ski even the folks at DPS where I took them to apply Phantom waxless wax said how pretty they are. If they ski as nice as they look 5 stars I look forward to charging some powder ASAP I'll keep you posted.

What an amazing ski! While I didn't get the opportunity to take these out in 2 feet of fresh, I did get em out in about 6 inches of fresh, albeit somewhat heavy spring pow... I am 6'1 ~200lbs and opted for the 186, as I wanted something fairly maneuverable and playful. This ski did NOT disappoint! So much fun in the soft snow, loose and playful, and surprisingly good edge hold on harder snow! I know it is a dedicated pow ski, but hell, with even just a little bit of soft snow, these skis are a blast! Graphics are f'ing badass, probably my favorite Moment topsheet! I love em so much, I am thinking of buying the 194 too!

I haven’t ridden them yet since they’re for next season, but I wanted to share a bit about the buying experience.For the Ghost Train, I had it on pre-order, and once I got the update that production had started, I was able to complete the purchase—smooth process overall.As for the Deathwish, I already had the touring version in the same size and really liked it, so I wanted to pick up the regular version for more aggressive conditions. I was stoked to score a cosmetic blem version at a solid price.There’s just one thing that stuck with me. Back in March, the Chipotle Blades were listed as sold out, and when I reached out, I was told you wouldn’t be back until next season. So I signed up for restock notifications. But right after I bought the Deathwish in April, I got an email saying one Chipotle Blades pair was back in stock.Since international shipping from Japan is pricey, I had to pass on it—unfortunately. If I’d known there was a chance they’d come back or still had some in stock before I bought the Deathwish, I would’ve definitely ordered both together. That’s the one thing I really regret.
