Countach 98

Burnin’ Turns Left & Right | Freestyle DNA / Freeride Backbone

The Countach 98 is our go-to low tide machine — precise, aggressive, and a hell of a lot more fun than it has any right to be. Born from a love affair between freestyle and freeride, it grips hard, hits fast, and stays planted no matter how chaotic the terrain gets. A progressive shape for directional diehards, the Countach 98 is quick to pivot and slash but ready for heavy edge pressure when it’s time to lay down some trenches. With its Euro beech core, dual radius sidecut, and a backbone that’ll keep you on your feet, the Countach 98 is here for you — whether you're lacing windbuff, slashing techy chutes, or just bombin’ groomers on a Tuesday.

    • This is a general guideline and is only a basic suggestion of the proper size. Where you ski, how you ski, and what skis you've ridden in the past should be taken into consideration.
    • The Countach is a stiff, directional freeride ski with rocker. This means it will be stable at speed while retaining maneuverability and playfulness.
    • If you are still on the fence and ski confidently and aggressively size up. If you ski more conservatively or timidly size down.
    • Beginner assumes a basic understanding of and ability to ski. For those who have never skied or cannot ski down runs without falling we recommend renting/demoing to start.
If you are unsure, have questions, or feel your recommended size is incorrect, please chat, call or email us. We are happy to discuss specific sizing based on your build, skiing style, and existing quiver / past skis.

Hardpack Front Rocker

ingredients

Full length, knot free, vertically laminated in house. Strong, damp and burly, European beech provides the pinnacle of composure and calmness at the highest speeds in the most challenging conditions.

Extruded sidewalls constructed of modified Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene (ABS) provide stiffness, damping, and durability, which allow for more impact resistance and easier repairs that stay put so you can bring the abuse year after year, season after season.

A custom blend of triaxial fiberglass and carbon fiber that provides torsional rigidity along with longitudinal pop and composure at speed.

We use a textured nylon topsheet material enhanced with sublimated graphics‒a non-toxic and eco-friendly alternative to silkscreen. We chose this topsheet material to ensure optimal durability and impact resistance while maintaining crisp and bright graphics.

Skis are tools not treasures and that means they need to take a beating which is why we use recycled, carbon infused sintered UHMWPE (Ultra High Molecular Weight PolyEthylene). Harder, faster and with better wax absorption and retention than extruded bases this is the industry leader for performance and longevity.

Rubberized VDS foil is placed at strategic locations throughout the construction to increase bond strength and provide vibration damping for more stability and increased control.

There are only a handful of edge manufacturers in the world. We go straight to the source for the best of the best. We use only 2.2mm Rockwell 48 hardened steel edges. Heat treated additionally in house to ensure you get nothing but the absolute most out of your skis.

Context matters.

Tahoe this season delivered one solid storm and then immediately pivoted to spring in January, Springuary. Low tide. Thin coverage. Firm mornings. Variable afternoons. The kind of winter where ski choice actually matters, and powder skis mostly just collect dust.

That’s exactly why I bought the Countach 98.

I wanted a ski that handles what the mountain actually looks like most days: firm groomers, mixed spring snow, scraped sections, and just enough coverage to keep you honest. The Countach is built for that reality, and it shows from the first run.

According to the size chart, as an intermediate skier, I should have gone with the 176.
I went 182.
Because why the efff not.

I’m 41, second real season skiing, strong legs, and fully committed to progressing. The longer length was the right call. The 182 feels planted, stable, and confidence-inspiring at speed without feeling unwieldy. If you’re willing to drive the ski and stay engaged, it rewards you immediately.

Mounted with Pivot 15s at the Moment Ski Shop, the setup feels rock solid. Calm under pressure. Precise edge to edge. No nervousness, no surprises—just clean feedback and control.

Where this ski really shines is in low-tide Tahoe conditions:

• Excellent edge hold on firm snow
• Composed in variable spring chop
• Stable at speed without feeling dead
• Predictable when coverage is thin and lines matter

It’s the kind of ski that makes you ski more deliberately. Better line choice. Cleaner turns. Less reacting, more skiing. I’ve felt noticeable progression on it already, not just in confidence, but in actual technique.

And maybe that’s the biggest compliment: this ski doesn’t just let you get away with things, it encourages you to ski right.

Bottom line: the Countach 98 is a precision tool for real-world conditions. If your season looks anything like Tahoe does this year—firm, fast, and unforgiving—this ski absolutely delivers.

Size up if you’ve got the legs.
Stay forward.
Ski fast.

No regrets.

I bought these at the end of the ski season and only had a chance to ski them once, I was really impressed with their performance in really bad snow conditions. I’m looking forward to next ski season.
I want to add that the buying experience was as good as it gets thanks to Bryce and the customer service team.
I look forward to being a Moment Ski Company customer for years to come.

I got to rip these on my last ski day of the year. They were amazing! Carved like a beast, rock solid turns, powerful, playful and not too heavy.

Super fun ski for Colorado this year. Rips fast carving on piste, but also super fun in moguls, getting air on sidehits, and Id imagine theyd be great in trees as well. Probably my favorite ski that I have used inbounds. Super awesome!!

I skied these 21 days in a row before the snow turned back on (Cottonwoods) and these skis RIP. My instant favorite low tide ski when I don't want to be tied down to race skis. They carve insanely well on anything up to true ice yet are plenty playful, great in the air, landing/skiing switch, excellent tail release off-piste. The edges are incredibly confidence inspiring. Despite feeling light underfoot they handle leftover chunky snow excellently and provide enough float in the occasional deep pocket. I also get compliments on the top sheet pretty much every day. They look sick and ski amazingly! I love the DW112 and DWT104 and was first leaning towards the DW96. Haven't tried the DW96 yet but am sooo happy on the Countach 98 and think this ski profile and flatter tail fit the low tide need I was looking for a bit better. VERY satisfied with the ski and Moment customer service! Thanks!

I hate the fact that I like these just as much as my Deathwish 112. It feels like I’m cheating when I take the Countach out. They are far different skis, but they have that signature “Moment-quality” feel. With little snow in the Tetons this year I needed something to keep the stoke up and these did it. Damp and composed, but really slashy and easy to carve. Setup: 188cm with 22 Design Outlaws. I want the Countach 110 next……
