Climbing skins are how you earn the descent, providing grip on the climb up and get stashed in your pack for the way down.

We stock two styles from Pomoca to match different priorities. Here at Moment, we keep a mix of both in our touring quivers for different objectives and days out in the backcountry.

01 — Pick Your Priority

Both are 70% mohair / 30% nylon, both from Pomoca's Swiss factory. The difference is the trade-off you want: shave weight and chase glide, or maximise grip and durability.

The lightest mohair-mix skin Pomoca makes, on a race-formula plush that flat-out flies on the flats. Trim, thin, and quick, giving up a little grip and durability to move faster and carry less. Also packs down smaller to fit into minimalist backpacks.

02 — Technologies

Straight from the source.

Technologies that Pomoca incorporates into it's line of climbing skins. Both options share the same glide, grip, and every dry 3.0 treatments, with the Free Pro 2.0 gaining an ultra light treatment.

Safer Skin Light: about 12% lighter — roughly 60–75 g off the pair — while staying 100% waterproof and taking big mileage.

03 — Sizing & Fit

Some skins are sized by width and require manual addition of the hardware to attach them to your skis.

We only carry Ready To Climb Pomoca skins. These skins are full width (140 mm) and already have the tip and tail attachment hardware installed. Pomoca skins come in several different sizes that fit different length skis, with an adjustable tail clip to match your specific skis. You'll want your ski size to fall near the middle of the Pomoca range, opting for the larger size if you are right on the cusp.

Pomoca also has the best trim tool on the market, which comes included in every pair of Pomoca skins we sell. Trimming your new skins to your skis is a super simple process, watch the video below for a step by step guide to getting out on the skin track.

04 — Keep Them Gliding

Dry skins before you store them, keep the glue clean, and fold them glue-to-glue or onto the cheat sheet.

In wet, transitional snow they can glop — snow clumping to the underside and killing your glide. Removing this glop is time consuming and frustrating, drying the skins out at the end of every day and occasionally applying skin wax will go a long way with keeping your days fast and efficient.
